As a missionary serving among Native Americans, I learned much about their faith. I believe that the Native Americans in Alberta are descendants of Lehi.
One time, my companion and I were either tracting or visiting less-active members. A family invited us in and said,
“Elders, we are so glad you are here. There are evil spirits in our house. You can get rid of them.”
They had faith that the priesthood power we held could remove the evil spirits. They saw us as our Father in Heaven sees us.
We said a prayer, invoked the power of the priesthood, and commanded the evil spirits to leave.
Immediately, the feeling in the house changed.
The family noticed it and thanked us with joy and appreciation. This event strengthened my testimony of prayer and of the priesthood, and confirmed the reality that their are powers and forces from an unseen world that we do not want as part of our lives.
